An awareness-raising seminar entitled “Effective CV Writing and Career Planning” was held at the College of Industry and Technology under Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU). The event aimed to support the professional development of final-year students and better prepare them for entering the labour market.
The training was organized by Kaklik Iskandarova, Head of the College’s Career Centre, and attended by Ilkin Sharifov, Chief Specialist of the Career Planning Department at the Career and Alumni Relations Centre of Baku State University (BSU).
During the seminar, Ilkin Sharifov provided students with detailed information about current labour-market requirements, making informed career choices, preparing an effective CV, and the key points to consider during the recruitment process.
He noted that building a successful career requires, first and foremost, an accurate assessment of one’s personal skills and interests, consideration of labour-market demands, and a commitment to continuous personal development.
As part of the seminar, practical recommendations were given on preparing a clear, concise and professional CV, presenting technical and interpersonal skills effectively, and tailoring a CV to the requirements of the position being applied for. Students with no work experience were advised to include in their CVs the projects they had participated in during their studies, work placements and volunteer activities.
Ilkin Sharifov emphasized the importance of starting career planning in the early years of education and continuously developing one’s knowledge and skills in order to become a competitive professional in today’s labour market.
The interactive seminar concluded with a question-and-answer session, during which students’ questions on the topic were addressed.
