Scholarly Achievements of College Lecturer Aynur Aghayeva
We are pleased to announce that Aynur Aghayeva, a lecturer at our college, published two scholarly articles in reputable academic journals in 2026, contributing to the study of Azerbaijan's diplomatic and political history.
Her first research article, "Ottoman—Safavid Diplomatic Relations and Their Role in the History of Azerbaijan," was published in BUTA International Journal of Scientific Research (Uluslararasl Bilimsel Arastlrmalar Dergisi), an academic journal published in Kars, Türkiye (Vol. 25, No. 3, 2026, p. 289).
The article offers a comprehensive examination of the military, political, diplomatic, economic, and cultural relations between the Ottoman and Safavid Empires during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries (1501—1639). Particular attention is given to the impact of these relations on Azerbaijan's geopolitical position, border regions, urban development, and major trade routes. The study demonstrates that the historical territories of Azerbaijan were not merely a theater of military confrontation between the two empires but also constituted an important arena of diplomatic interaction and regional trade.

A second scholarly article by Aynur Aghayeva, entitled "Foreign Policy and the Formation of the Concept of the National State in the Parliamentary Debates of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (1918—1920)," was published in Scientific Works, the academic journal of the Institute of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan (Vol. 93, No. 5, 2026, p. 146).
Drawing upon parliamentary speeches and stenographic records of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, the study explores the development of the concepts of nation and state within the context of foreign policy and examines the ways in which these concepts became interconnected in the political thought of the period. The article highlights the transformation of the concept of the nation from a predominantly religious and ethnic framework toward a citizenship-based political model, emphasizing the importance of this intellectual development in shaping the principles of national statehood and its recognition in the international arena.
The publication of these studies in academic journals represents an important contribution to the scholarly study of Azerbaijan's diplomatic history, national statehood, and political thought. We congratulate Aynur Aghayeva on this academic achievement and wish her continued success in her research and scholarly endeavors.
