The College of Industry and Technology, part of the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU), holds a special place within the education system.
Pursuant to the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan's Resolution No. 250 of 10 July 2020, the Baku College of Management and Technology was reorganised by being transformed into the Industry and Technology College, a public legal entity under ADNSU.
The former Baku College of Management and Technology was reorganised by the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 250 of 10 July 2020, through its transformation into the College of Industry and Technology, a public legal entity under ADNSU. It was established on the basis of the Baku Local Industry Technological and Baku Light Industry Technicums, which had been operating since 1955-1956.
In accordance with the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 140 dated 26 August 2002 ‘On the improvement of the network of institutions of secondary professional education’, The Baku Construction and Baku Commerce Technicums were abolished and merged with the Baku College of Management and Technology by Order No. 885 of the Ministry of Education dated 02.09.2002.
Based on the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 3 February 2016 and the order of the Ministry of Education No. 130 dated 4 March 2016, the activities of Baku Computer College were terminated and it was merged with Baku College of Management and Technology.
The College shall carry out its activities in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On Education” and the existing legislation. College is an educational institution that provides educational services based on middle-level vocational programs and is authorised to award sub-bachelor's degrees. It is guided by the ‘Model Statute of a Middle-Level Vocational Education Institution’, other decisions and decrees of the Cabinet of Ministers, orders of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, decisions of its collegium, the charter of ADNSU, and its own charter.
The College is an educational institution that provides education services based on secondary professional programs and is authorised to award sub-bachelor's degrees.
At the Industry and Technology College of ADNSU, education is provided on state-funded and fee-paying basis, in Azerbaijani and Russian languages. In accordance with the current legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the standard duration of study at the college on a full-time basis is 3 years for those admitted with a lower secondary education and 2 years for those admitted with a upper secondary education. The duration of external study is 2.5 years. This period is determined by the curricula of the individual specialities. Students who have completed the programs of the secondary vocational education level and passed the college's final state examination are awarded a certificate of completion of a secondary vocational education institution in accordance with the current legislation.
The College in its activities is guided by the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Law on Education. Graduates are awarded a “Sub-Bachelor” qualification. Student admissions to the college are conducted in accordance with the regulations established by the SEC (DİM). To carry out teaching, methodological and pedagogical work at the college, five departments (subject combinations) operate: ‘Languages’, ‘Humanities’, “Economics”, ‘Natural Sciences’, ‘Computer Technologies’.
The college's pedagogical staff is strong: Special attention is paid to strengthening the college's teaching staff, their professional development, and retraining. Currently, the college has 7 PhD holders. Four of them are lecturers. Five lecturers have been admitted to PhD programs. At the College of Industry and Technology of ADNSU, the process of improving teaching and strengthening its links with science and industry is constantly in the spotlight.
The use of innovative technologies and new teaching methods in the teaching process at the college. The establishment of work on the integration of ICT into the education system at a high level and with professionalism, and the creation of a businesslike and democratic environment among students and teaching staff, plays a major role in improving the quality of teaching. Over the last three years, significant work has been carried out to strengthen the material and educational base. The college's computer rooms have been equipped with laboratory facilities, modern computers, tablets, projectors, and interactive whiteboards, and staff and students have been fully provided with access to the internet. a spacious assembly hall, a fully renovated canteen, a library equipped with computers and modern e-resources, e-textbooks, course materials, and teaching and methodological literature, a large sports hall, as well as a publishing house that serves the teaching staff and students. Today's student is tomorrow's specialist. Alongside acquiring theoretical knowledge, students gain professional skills through high-quality placements in relevant sector enterprises. Special attention is paid to the implementation of students' placement programs to ensure they graduate as fully-fledged specialists. The timely and smooth conduct of students' industrial placements is fully ensured. Among the casualties of the 44-day sacred Patriotic War were students and graduates of the college, who were awarded various medals for their courageous participation. A photo stand has been created and books have been published to immortalize the names of the college's martyred students and graduates. These play a special role in raising the younger generation in a patriotic spirit.
